a few things i've thought of in the last few weeks:

if you sent a letter to the post office, addressed, stamped, etc to the post office, who delivers it, and who gets it? exactly what happens?

manchester city, an english soccer team, is abbreviated man city. and they were powder blue shirts. isn't that a little TOO gay? i know it's soccer, but still, do they have to go that route?

why can't we have english announcers for every sport? have you ever listened to them? everything sounds so cool with the accent. instead of a forward taking a shot, he's invited to shoot, instead of a fuck up, it's a lack of quality, etc.

could alton brown win an iron chef battle? he always uses whatevers there, doesn't worry about big expensive stuff, etc.

if i could have one person's job for one day only, would i want to be a playboy photographer, or the guy who paints on the bathing suits? both have perks...

seriously, where would a letter go if sent to the post office?

what if south park is right, and the mormons do really have the right religion?

i figured it out, and i should be done with school by march 18th(ish) 2006... yet i still have no idea what i'm going to do with myself. i would love to try out for espn's dream job, but that might require moving to bristol, conn. not sure i could do that.

janet loves newlyweds, which leads me to this: jessica simpson... very good as the 2 week girlfriend (provided she'd put out) but even that would stretch it. i think i'd have to kill her... just so damn irritating.

i guess that's it. if anyone knows about the post office thing, comment please. also include any of your random thoughts.

ok cory, here is your post. (i thought about just publishing right now, but i think i'll continue, i have a mini-rant)

first off though, school... is school. gearing up towards finals, and only 1 final (my math final) do i have ANY idea of what it will be on. the other 2... your guess is as good as mine. and trust me, not knowing the classes might give you a better idea. but it's a film and fiction class, and philosophy. phil... probably analyze a passage... film and fiction... who knows. i know we have a large(ish) paper do that week, so maybe (hopefully) that will be it... but i doubt it.

job situation: still couldn't find one, got the run around from red lobster, so i had to swallow my pride since i need money badly (even my oregon trip is jeopardized right now, but i'll sell my "slightly" used liver for that) so i am now working for my parents. both me and my parents both agreed that it would only be through the new year at the longest, but they knew i needed the money, and they need the help right now.

now, the mini rant. as some of you may know, and some may not, in the past week there have been numerous sports brawls. last sunday it was the browns and steelers (2 players spit in each other's faces... i mean, what would you do) today clemson and south carolina had a brawl that lasted near 5 minutes, and needed cops to come in and break it up... but the worst was the pacers pistons brawl last night. absolutely worst. if you go to collegehumor.com in the next couple of days and scroll down, in their links section they have the fight in video format, watch it. basically, a hard foul occurs, and the players start scuffling. after that is about to settle down, a fan throws a full cup of beer on a visiting player, as well as a fan out ON THE COURT pushing and shoving... so some players go into the stands, as well as more fans coming on the court, and a giant melee starts. my big problems with this... the fact that fans came on the court, the fact that fans assaulted the players with projectiles, and the fact that people are saying it is only the players out of control. one person wrote in to ESPN and said that he used to work sports security, and that the fan would have been apprehended, MAYBE spend a night in the drunk tank, get a slap on the wrist and MAYBE a fine up to 20 dollars. everyone says that since the players make so much money, they should be able to control their emotions. well, does that mean that if i go to bill gate's work place and verbally assualt him, pelt him with projectiles, and invade his area that is supposed to be off limits to me, if he does anything to react, he is way out of line? no, that seems rediculous. MONEY DOES NOT EQUAL CONTROL OF OR ROBOTIC EMOTIONS. it means you have more money. period.

soccer fans in europe and mexico have a title.. that frankly they worked hard at getting. they call them huligans. which i probably spelled wrong. these same fans are contained by FENCES from each other and the field of play. lets look at the past year or 2 in "civilized" american sports. from most recent to least recent. yesterday night, fans and players fight both on court and off. a player for the dodgers is suspended for throwing a plastic bottle back into the stands, and the feet of the person who through it. straight down, after it had come out at him. by the way, i believe it was full coming out, but he dumped the liquid out. the francisco episode in oakland, where a fan commented that he hoped the players mom would also be kidnapped and raped in his native country, and then a chair came out of the stands, so he threw it back. a bad move by him, granted, but i ask what would you do in his situation. in college football, fans rush the field after an upset, taunting and dancing around the losing team AS THEY LEAVE THE FIELD, causing a fight and one fan getting his nose and orbital bone broken. lastly, the gamboa episode in kansas chicago where a dad and son came out of the the stands and assualted the first base coach.

because of these events, all in the past few years, i'm thinking for both the players and fans safety, maybe we should erect giant fences all around the fields. it seems that more and more people feel that if they go to a game and buy a ticket, they are allowed to act any way they see fit because they pay a decent amount of money for said ticket. i say that no matter how much you pay or make, you need to be in a safe environment, and control yourselves. i've discussed this with people in person, and each person says "well, we pay so much for tickets, and they make so much, we should be able to say and do what we want, and heckle them as much as we want. they make so much they should just brush it off." i say that's bullshit.

those are my thoughts, feel free to share yours.

hmmmmm, so what is going on in my life right now... let's see... it is the 22nd of Oct. and my 1 yr anniversary with janet is 1 month from tomorrow. her birthday is the day before matt M's, and christmas is a month after our anniversary. then, less than a month later, Oregon trip for the beach house. HOWEVER... I HAVE NO JOB!!!!!! peter came in about 2 weeks ago, and shut down the place. for good. i may have a job lined up at red lobster, but who knows. we'll see how that goes. he was tired of putting money into the restaurant to make the needed improvements. so i'm effin screwed. now, why you ask, did i not blog about this earlier? best reason i can give is MY COMPUTER STOPPED WORKING. that's right, stopped completely. would not boot up most of the time, and when it did, quickly turned itself off. so after seeking help, and finding it helpless, i had to borrow money from my parents to buy a new tower. when it rains it pours. so, to recount: no job, biggest spending time of the year for me coming up, no computer. great. next time you guys see me, each of you take a shovel full of the shit that is piling on me, would you?

but justin, you ask, how is school going? well, math class is fun, but extremely tough. i have a film and fiction class that is great, love it, and it isn't a huge amount of work. Philosophy... now, i like philosophy. HOWEVER... my first paper i got a D on it because he thought i was wrong. not didn't back up my point... just "was wrong". what the shit is that? and if someone in class says that they see a point different, he brings up, again, that he published books. not neccessarily on this subject, just books. i'm gonna publish a fuckin book and then shove it up his ass. what's more, it's a class with 100 people there, i have a class right before it so due to walking time i get there after the front seats are taken. no big deal, except he doesn't speak loud enough to reach the back. we ask him to speak up and repeat near 68,938,765,572,674 times per class. rough estimate, might be one less or more. and he looks like john tesh with no neck, but i can't really hold that agianst him. so that's school.

oh yeah, one more thing... i saved ALL my passwords to my comp, didn't ever write them down, and can't boot the damn thing. so when i figure out a new aim name for myself, i'll post it. the big problem is with my school email account, can't remember that... FUCK!!!

FUCK!!!!

i had this huge post, and then hit the wrong effin button. well, here it is, possibly in short mode.

LA is bringing in an expansion soccer team. the name is shared by another team in the world. any guesses where? (reader:: hmmm, LA team, soccer... must be...) that's right, it's from mexico.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=306031&cc=5901

i know soccer is a worldly sport. however, in EVERY OTHER LOCATION it is celebrated because of how they play it there and there alone. Germany, France they play very tactical, slowed down, etc. England a bit more open paced, a couple more chances taken. spanish and latin american leagues play wide open, foul em if you got em. the US does not have a specific style yet. but we were creating our own. it was close to england, but more wide open, not quite yet at the spanish leagues. and now, we bring in a mexican team, with the same owner from the original team, as well as 2 players who played for mexico in the '94 and '98 world cup. this will change our identity as a league. i don't know, maybe i'm way off base here. i like the fact that the US has so many different cultures here. but some things just seem wrong. (ballots published in 84 million different languages stand out the most. if you are going to vote for something that has potential to drastically change our society, maybe you should have to speak our national language well enough to do so...) this bugs me.

anyways, you have the link to the story, it's a quick one, so read it if you want. i'll leave you with a few quotes that i find the most telling...

"Of course, we're going to be the best team in the United States,'' Vergara said. "I promise all of you that Chivas USA is going to be from the start just like Chivas in Mexico: a team of excellence and an open door for Spanish speakers.''

"It's a giant party,'' said Obideo Mojarro of Pasadena, leader of the group. "We've been waiting for this for a long time. Chivas is a big family that enchants all of Mexico.''

lately, just school, work, and i joined an adult league soccer team. at first, i couldn't run for more than 20 - 25 minutes, and thought i was gonna die. however, this week, i went 75(ish) minutes, and felt fine until the last 5. yeah for being in better shape. i have a final this friday and this saturday, both in the morning, and then i'm starting my new session. i really really hate summer school, but by taking it i won't have to be in school for an additional 10 years or something like that.

2 posts in one(ish) days... wow. i'm watching the build up to the lakers pistons game, and 2 things struck me... 1) the LA media just licks the nuts of the lakers as a team, which doesn't really happen in any other place. read some stuff about, let's say, the yankees. the new york media rips them apart. rarely mentions the positive, always the negative. here... basically the lakers can do no wrong. this leads me to 2) kobe bryant, karl malone, gary payton, not to be idolized. the only one i would recommend looking up to is Shaq. after he plays, he wants to become a police officer. he also bought new police cruises the last time the laker faithful rioted after they won. stand up guy. kobe? he is on trial for rape. may not be guilty, but is still an adulterer. (block on my train of thought, abc just said find the tv show a star, so they got... star freakin jones. who the f is that?) on to karl malone. had an illegitamate(sp?) child who he didn't recognize as his own until she was 24 yrs old. then got mad when she wouldn't right away welcome him into her life... not to mention he is the BIGGEST cheap shot artist in the entire NBA. Gary payton annoys me because he bitches and talks shit like he is a great player, but at this point in his career, I could get a few baskets on him. so SHUT YOUR MOUTH YOU WHINY BITCH. all this leads me to say: GO PISTONS

i am planning on july 3rd for the dinner party. if you still are planning on coming, let me know, so i have a count.

next item: this quarter has made me feel the dumbest and least successful out of all my college quarters. 3 of my friends are getting out, janet has gotten a sweet ass job, and here i sit, probably about to fail physics, and also switching majors. i'll be in school another 2 - 3 yrs, and that's with a full summer schedule. and since i'm taking summer school, i don't get that break i REALLY need, because i am just burnt out on EVERYTHING. i'm sure you all know how that is. alright, more studying.
